THRIFT SHOP
Old Stone Church Thrift ShopOn the lower level of the church is a hive of activity called the Old Stone Church Thrift Shop. On December 9, 2006, it celebrated its 20th year of operation. It occupies three rooms, which were once the sexton’s living quarters. It spreads out into a large hallway, where racks and tables with sales goods are placed on open days. It is open on Tuesdays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. to the general public, and on two Sundays a month after the service for the church members.
In addition to clothing at very reasonable prices, there are household items including dishes and knick-knacks as well as linens and bedding. There are two rooms in a back basement hallway where donations are processed other days of the week. There are many loyal volunteers who make this operation a successful one. Half of the money earned goes to the Trust Fund of the church and the other half to a fund that can be used for costly accoutrements for the church which cannot be funded in the regular budget.
Besides the obvious financial benefit to the church is the advantage to the community of an opportunity to purchase quality clothing and household goods at low prices.
